Meeru Island Resort & Spa Maldives is an ideal resort island for families with small children.

Children are about 5% of guests to the Maldives, so many resorts focus on adults and are not very child friendly.

Meeru has areas, facilities and services for adults only, however it caters for and welcomes families of all ages, including toddlers. Some would even call us the best Maldives resort for families.

Meeru’s Family Plan makes for a more affordable holiday.

Your children’s room (sharing with parents), meal plan (Full Board or All Inclusive Plus) and Speedboat transfer rates are reduced to 50% of the adult rate. Family Plan rates are applicable to children of less than 15 years of age.

Infants (less than 2 years of age) are not charged for their room, meal plan or transfers.

Meeru is a relatively large island so there is plenty of space for the children to be themselves without disturbing anyone else. Children can run about without fear of being hurt…plenty of soft sand beach. Naturally, parents must keep an eye on their children when near the lagoon or pools.

The Garden Rooms and Beach Villas are spacious­ and accommodate 2 adults + 2 children, so no need to rent a 2nd Villa­ just for the children. Children can have their own beds. Baby cots are provided for infants.

Meals are served at the Farivalhu Restaurant in “all you can eat” buffet style, so there is plenty of variety to please children’s tastes. The Chef will accommodate special dietary requests, including heating pre-made baby and toddler food.

There is a children’s game room near the buffet restaurant. Near the Dhoni Bar Pool, there is a children’s wading pool, an outdoor play area and the Komas Kid’s Club located near the Dhoni Bar pool, separate facilities, toys, games and fun for Children ages (3-12) and Teens (13-17).

Meeru Café offers an ice cream and snack menu.

There is also the very popular, huge Blue Whale skeleton and a local cultural mini-museum.

Bicycles are available for rent and kids can participate in an Excursion Program/Family Snorkeling.

Fun nighttime activities include a cultural dance show and a Maldives culture and marine conservation slide show.

Plenty of good snorkeling spots are available in the lagoon around the island. Meeru also organizes free boat trips to the nearby house reef (only children of age 12 years and older can join the boat trip).

The Euro Divers Center teaches a children’s introductory SCUBA course.

Babysitting services are available and can be arranged by contacting Reception. It is recommended to provide 8 hours notice. For the convenience of our guests, there is a medical clinic and resident doctor at Meeru.
